Stanley Cup Playoffs Opening Night Recap 4/30/13

Minnesota 1 at 2 Chicago (OT)
Gritty performance by Minny with Backstrom going down in warm-ups. Hawks must work on solving Ryan Suter (he logged a game-high 41:08 TOI) and imposing their will from the opening face-off.

*****

Los Angeles 1 at 2 St. Louis (OT)
Brain cramp by Jonathan Quick behind his own net, while his team is on the PP, quickly does Kings in in Game-1. Blues “D” gets Grade of “A” for blocking shots, clearing rebounds and closing gaps.

*****

Detroit 1 at 3 Anaheim
ANA Coach Bruce Boudreau’s approach to Gm-1: “Winning four against these guys (Detroit) sounds like a huge task. But all we should do is focus on winning one.” Love it! Plus, if Teemu Selanne keeps scoring–look out!
